Getting Started — Register & Set Up 2FA

For new users of the WAKR portal.

This is the one-time setup to get an account on the WAKR portal: register, confirm your email, then turn on two-factor authentication (2FA). 2FA is required before you can use most of the portal.

1. Register

Go to wakradmin.azurewebsites.net/Account/Register.

  1. Email — use the same email address that's on your WAKR membership. Registration checks this against the membership list; if it doesn't match, you'll see a message asking you to contact the Treasurer.
  2. Password and Confirm password — at least 6 characters. If it's rejected, it usually just needs a mix of upper and lower case letters, a number, and a symbol.
  3. Click Register.

2. Confirm your email

After registering, check your inbox for a confirmation email and click the link in it. You can't log in until you've confirmed your email — if you try beforehand, login will fail.

Didn't get the email? Check spam/junk first. Still nothing — contact the Treasurer.

3. Log in and turn on 2FA

Log in at /Account/Login with your email and password. Most of the portal's screens require 2FA, so the first thing to do is set it up:

  1. Go to Account → Manage → Two-factor authentication (or open /Account/Manage/TwoFactorAuthentication directly). If a page tells you 2FA is required before you can continue, it will point you here.
  2. Click Add authenticator app.
  3. Install an authenticator app on your phone if you don't have one already — Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator both work.
  4. In the app, scan the QR code shown on screen (or type in the key shown underneath it, if you can't scan).
  5. Your app now shows a rolling 6-digit code. Type that code into Verification Code on the WAKR page and click Verify.
  6. You'll be shown a set of recovery codes — save these somewhere safe (a password manager, or printed and filed). Each one lets you log in once if you ever lose access to your authenticator app. You won't be shown them again.

That's it — 2FA is now on for your account.

4. Logging in from now on

Each time you log in with your email and password, you'll also be asked for the 6-digit code from your authenticator app. Tick Remember this machine to skip the code on that device next time (you'll still need it on a new device or browser).

Lost your phone or can't get a code? Use log in with a recovery code on that screen — this uses up one of the recovery codes from step 3.6 above.

Good to know

  • 2FA is required for admin screens — until it's set up, you'll be redirected back to this setup page whenever you try to open one.
  • Recovery codes are one-time use. If you're running low, go to Account → Manage → Two-factor authentication → Reset recovery codes to generate a fresh set (the old ones stop working).
  • Changing phones? Use Reset authenticator app on the same page to set up the app again on your new phone.
  • Registration is limited to current WAKR members. If your email isn't on the membership list, registration will be blocked — that's not a bug, it's how access is controlled.

Who to contact

  • Registration blocked, wrong email on file, or no confirmation email arrives: the Treasurer.
  • Locked out with no recovery codes and no authenticator access: the Treasurer can help reset your account.
